Craig Armstrong - Piano Works. the Film, the Album, the Book

Craig Armstrong - Piano Works. the Film, the Album, the Book
2006 | Piano Solo, Modern Classical | DVD5 | 3.44GB

To all those who celebrate autumn,
a gift i wanted to make a long time ago - my favorite composer of all times;
the saddest and most beautiful music in this world.

Craig Armstrong the Golden Globe, Bafta and Grammy winning composer performs pieces from his beautiful and critically acclaimed album
Piano Works. Filmed in location in Paris the music films centres on a unique solo performance by Craig.

This one hour long film shows an extremely rare sighting of the composer in the legendary Parisian Studio, Studio Eclair the un-modernised home to the French new-wave cinema movement of the 1960's. As the music swirls around, in and out of this historic cinematic space, so too does the viewer; jettisoning into the surrounding cityscape to experience the source of Craig's inspiration for the music.

some of these tracks will forever live in my memory.

Jean F. Cochois aka JFC aka the Timewriter

i could write a lot about these two albums, but what's the point... this music is simply unique.

Jean F. Cochois aka The Timewriter is a house music producer.
His trademark style can be characterised by its dense and atmospheric sound. UK Muzik magazine wrote: "This is real 21st century soul music, overflowing with magic".

Under various pseudonyms he has been releasing 12" and artist albums on labels as Plastic City, Mole Listening Pearls, Elektrolux and American labels such as Wave Music, Driftwood, and Fiji. He amalgamates the deep soul of Motown with synthetic sound productions.
Electronic, Downtempo

Technical Itch - Diagnostics [FLAC]
Drum&Bass | 1999 | Label: Moving Shadow | 475mb | FLAC

Some say, Mark Caro is the father of Drum&Bass... I don't know about that, but for me this album was the most influential in the whole style.
it's quite different from what they call DnB these days.. for some reason i want to call it industrial and depressing.
However, in the last 10 years, if you'd ask me what is my favorite DnB album, i would answer straight away - Technical Itch - Diagnostics.

Eskadet - Solitudes

Eskadet - Solitudes
Electronic, New Age, Downtempo | 2010 | 320kbps | 195mb

ever since i heard them in one of the Lemongrass compilations, I've been searching for the album, but there wasn't one;
and just a few days ago i found out it was released by the Scene!
it's kind of hard to describe their music... unique and replete; like they included all the styles I've pointed above and sort them by some kind of layers.. i mean, there's everything at the same time! :)
I'd recommend this album to everyone.

Deftones - Adrenaline

Alternative | 1995 | MP3: preset-extreme (VBR~256) | 92mb
Label: Maverick | ASIN: B000002N2Z

a little unusual for our community, but this band was a legend and has to be here at least for the list
Call it what you want: emo-core, alternative, sneaker metal...the Deftones seemed the most unlikely quartet to come out on Madonna's Maverick Records. The music is agro, abrasive, and damn near primal from the disc's first few seconds. Tool-like whisperings of frontman Chino Moreno can bring the mood from disconcerting to downright dangerous in seconds. Heavy, chunky guitar riffs, mad raps, and testy tempo changes make this a must-have for fans of whisper-to-a-primal-scream alterna-rock.

Spyro Gyra - Love & Other Obsessions

Smooth Jazz | 1995 | APE or MP3-preset-extreme (VBR~256) | 347mb
Label: GRP Records | ASIN: B0000001UJ

the very first jazz band i fell in love with.
...about ten years past since the first time i listen to the first two tracks on audio cassete, and i still think this two is the most beautiful Smooth-Jazz compositions ever.

Charles Lloyd Quartet - Mirror (2010)

[quote]Many critics have opined that Lloyd’s “New Quartet”, with Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland may be the best of all his groups. The quartet’s previous release in this line-up, the live-recorded Rabo de Nube, met with across-the-board approval and was voted #1 album of the year in both the Critics and Readers Polls of JazzTimes.
